The 2017 Coachmen Leprechaun is decked out with many of the features more commonly found in larger, pricier motorhomes, making it feel like a pot of gold amongst Class C Motorhomes.

From the 11 floorplans available, we took a closer look at the Leprechaun 311FS, which is built on a E450 Ford chassis. It has a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating of 14,500 lbs and a Gross Combine Weight Rating of 22,000 lbs. It measures in at 31’ 10” long and is just under 11’ tall, with a width of 100.” The water tanks hold 50 gallons of fresh water, 32 gallons of gray water, and 31 gallons of black water.

The entire Leprechaun line is Certified Green at the Gold level, which is a third-party designation meaning that the motorhome uses resource efficient, healthy materials.

The 2017 Coachmen Leprechaun 311FS has Azdel lightweight 2” composite sidewalls – no wood means no water absorption. Sideview cameras on both sides as well as a back-up camera at the rear help you uncover those blind spots as you maneuver in and out of tricky spots. If you do scrape up against a tree, the color-infused fiberglass exterior will minimize the look of any scratches.

The two slides each have a topper piece to catch twigs and leaves so they fall right off as the slide retracts instead of getting jammed inside the mechanisms. Both of the slides on the 311FS are on the driver side, which leaves the campsite side with a nice open expanse of outdoor living space. This area is covered by nice large 19’ power awning, which extends almost the full length of the motorhome. LED strip lights along the awning’s edge light up this main campsite area at night.

Other exterior features includes plenty of storage, including a lit compartment with bins, an outdoor shower with hot and cold water access, a TV-ready box, rear-mounted ladder. If you want to take advantage of the sun’s energy to charge up, there’s a solar panel plug in connection.

Inside, the Leprechaun 311FS is roomy and livable. In the cab area, both the driver and passenger seats recline, or you can opt for swivel seats. The bunk over cab has a weight rating of 350 lbs so it will easily sleep two children. There’s a ladder to help them clamber in and – safety first – a safety net buckles into place so no one rolls out of bed.

Moving into the galley, the large U-shaped dinette has plenty of seating for you and your guests to enjoy a meal or a game. It’s directly across from the jackknife sofa (or optional reclining theater seating), creating a natural conversation area. There’s a nice big window right at the dinette that overlooks your campsite – great for keeping an eye on little ones. It’s also a great space to catch a show or movie: the DVD player is mounted right in the wall, under the 39” LED flat screen television which swings out so you can watch it from several positions. At the end of the day, the dinette easily converts into a bed.

The kitchen area has solid surface countertops topped off with a tile wall border, and a double kitchen sink with a satin nickel pullout faucet helps with after dinner cleanup. here’s a three-burner recessed gas cooktop, with a 16” oven underneath. A residential convection microwave gives you another cooking option, while the double-door residential refrigerator with two freezer drawers gives you plenty of space to stock up with staples for longer trips. You’re also spoiled for dry storage with a wide, full height pantry that has slide-out trays so you can store all your tall dry goods.

The bathroom has two entrances – one off the main living are, and the other directly from the bedroom. The shower has a big skylight, glass door, and hand wand. Again, there’s plenty of storage: in addition to the under sink cupboard, there are also two tall stacks of cupboards, one with sliding pantry trays. There’s also a decent sized window to allow in some natural light, as well as the vent fan.

The bedroom has a nice sliding privacy door – a nice step-up from a curtain. There’s a queen-size bed, padded headboard with overhead LED lights for bedtime reading. One of the nicest features of the bedroom, though, is the walk-in closet space with full-length mirror, two countertops with drawers underneath, and two bars for hanging your shirts and jackets.
