Everything looks brighter when you’re on vacation. And when you can bring along all of the comforts of home, well, that time spent on the road looks even better than ever. So it’s a good thing that the 2010 Itasca Sunstar Class A Motorhome is like a home on wheels while offering great performance – rain or shine.

The Sunstar is available in three spacious floorplans, and we’ll be focusing our attention on the 32K, the largest model in the series. The 32K measures in with a length of 33′, an exterior height of 12’4”, an exterior width of 8’5”, an interior height of 6’8” and an interior width of 8’.

For your peace of mind while traveling, this RV features an excellent service package that comes standard with purchase. This includes a 12-month/15,000-mile basic limited warranty, a 36-month/36,000-mile warranty on its structure and a standard 10-year limited parts-and-labor roof skin warranty. It’s also backed with a complimentary 24-hour roadside assistance program that features RV technical assistance hotline, emergency trip interruption, nationwide trip routing and fee-free traveler’s cheques.

Built on a Ford F53 chassis, the Sunstar is powered by a 362-hp 6.8L Super Duty V10 SEFI Triton engine, and comes equipped with a TorqShift 5-speed automatic transmission with tow and haul and a 175-amp. alternator. The 32K is the only model that can be upgraded to a Workhorse chassis with an Allison transmission.

To give your Sunstar a look all its own, you have a choice of standard graphics, deluxe graphics and full-body paint. To ensure that this RV is more than just a pretty face, it has the durability to back it up. Thanks to its SuperStructure construction and precision-engineered Thermo-Panel sidewalls, the Sunstar’s beauty will last.

To create a strong cab substructure, the Sunstar uses steel in its construction, while the windshield is mounted securely in steel with non-hardening sealants. It also uses an advanced laser alignment system when mounting the cab to the chassis for a sturdy, square foundation, and the major steel components are e-coated to resist rust and corrosion.

For the sidewall and roof, the Thermo-Panel uses pressure to bond the exterior skin, lauan backing and EPS block foam to the walls’ aluminum framework. And to ensure that the weight is carried by the metal substructure, the Sunstar utilizes an interlocking sidewall and roof joint design, giving you a stronger, more durable RV. It also features a crowned, one-piece fiberglass roof, backed with a 10-year limited parts-and-labor roof skin warranty.

The Sunstar is all about making your life easier on the road, and comes with a host of features to do just that. One such system is the exclusive TrueLevel holding tank monitoring system. This system features Mirus detector cell technology, which makes sure that fresh and wastewater tank level readings are optimal. For accurate readings, the Mirus detector’s micro-electrical field detects liquid levels from outside the tank.

Another feature meant to simplify your RV experience is automatic levelling jacks, which come as an optional feature. This handy system makes it easy to get settled at the campground while two deep-reserve, Group 24 batteries provide plenty of power when dry camping.

Other convenience extras include color-coded labels in the service center and Smart Storage compartments, OnePlace systems center, a one-piece windshield and available sideview cameras, a standard winterization package and an available exterior entertainment center that includes AM/FM stereo, CD player, remote, removable table and speakers, all in a lockable compartment.

Sometimes you don’t know what you’re going to need on the road – good thing the Sunstar comes with plenty of Smart Storage elements. This includes a side storage compartment that lets you bring along all of your gear.

At the heart of Smart Storage is the idea of improved design configuration. This means that bulky systems and tanks are placed in areas that don’t take away from valuable storage areas, leaving more room for basement storage. Exterior storage is also easy to get to with features like the StoreMore slideout system and slideout trays in select storage bays. You’ll even find Smart Storage inside, with features such as full-extension drawer slides and pullout pantries, and the BenchMark full comfort dinette that comes with innerspring cushions that flip up to reveal large storage bins and also converts into a comfortable sleeping area.

Inside, you also have the choice of personalization. You can decorate with a choice of three fabric collections and three wood finishes for cabinetry (complete with satin nickel hardware). You also have the option of going with UltraLeather on your furniture, which is designed to be soft, durable and easy to clean.

Making the drive a comfortable one, the 32K’s cab puts the driver in the easy seat, thanks to armrests, lumbar support and multi-adjustable slide/recline/swivel functions. Listen to your favorite tunes with the AM/FM stereo CD player, and coffee stays put in the convenience tray with cupholders. Other features you’ll find in the cab include a chassis/house battery radio power switch, power steering with a tilt wheel, cab wraparound curtain and map lights.

Off the cab is the open-concept living and dining area. This area comes outfitted with a sofa and dinette that offer comfortable seating by day and quickly convert into beds at night. There’s also a 32″ LCD TV that comes in handy when you just want to put your feet up and relax.

For your cooking pleasure, the kitchen comes with all the amenities you’d find back at home. Just a few include a microwave oven or an available microwave/convection oven, large pantry, refrigerator/freezer, three-burner range top, laminate countertops, and a vented range hood.

The spacious bedroom located in the back of the coach provides privacy and plenty of storage with underbed access. Spend your night resting comfortably on a queen-sized bed with innerspring mattress, complete with bedspread, pillows and shams. You can also choose to add tinted, dual-glazed windows to increase thermal efficiency throughout the coach. Next to the bedroom (separated with privacy curtain), the 32K has bunk beds with foam mattresses, as well as a fully equipped bathroom, complete with shower, laminate countertop, flexible showerhead, textured glass shower door and a skylight.

Other features of note that come standard in the Sunstar include two high-efficiency roof-mount air conditioners with energy management system, 35,000 BTU low-profile furnace and a child seat tether anchor.
