You’re a traveller. You love to be on the road, heading to a new destination. You long for the journey. If this describes you, then the 2013 Open Range Journeyer Travel Trailer may be the perfect fit for your lifestyle.


The 2013 Journeyer comes in four different floorplans. We’re going to take a look at the JT340FLR, a model that falls into the mid-range of the series. It has an exterior length of 36’, exterior height of 145”, and exterior width of 100”. The JT340FLR has a GVWR of 11,995 lbs, UVW of 9,030, dry hitch weight of 1,455, and dry axle weight of 7,575. For water, it has a fresh-water capacity of 85 gallons, gray-water capacity of 57 gallons, waste-water capacity of 41 gallons, and a 10-gallon water heater. As well, it has a 35,000 BTU furnace and 15,000 BTU air conditioner.


Built to last for many years to come, the Journeyer is constructed using Symalite 1200 sidewall substrate. Boasting composite technology, these sidewalls are 125 percent more puncture proof and add insulation while reducing noise. It’s resistant to moisture, mold, and swell and bonds well with fiberglass. Up top, the roof decking is made using ½” thick plywood that offers quality and durability. The PVC rubber roof is UV resistant. It won’t streak or chalk and no reconditioning is needed.

If you plan on travelling all-year long, the Journeyer comes equipped with a four-season protection package. In addition to its furnace and air conditioner, this Open Range travel trailer has a heated underbelly, heated and enclosed dump valves, R-38 roof insulation, R-38 floor insulation and R-9 sidewalls. On top of that, the JT340FLR has a heated storage area, insulated slide floors, vented attic, double insulated baggage doors, and digital thermostat.


The Journeyer travel trailer comes equipped with the Accu-Slide system. Lightweight and above-floor, its design gives you more storage and promotes fuel savings. With its high strength stainless steel aircraft cable, you’ll notice the smooth, quiet room movement. All of its working components are located in the trailer, which means it’s not subjected to the elements, and cable control in all four room corners helps stop leaks.

Other exterior features include pass-thru storage, Carefree power awning, Dexter EZ-Flex suspension, stabilizing jacks, 80 Lb. LP storage, 4” extended drip spouts, nitrogen-filled radial tires and 50-Amp service.


When it comes to the interior of the Journeyer, you have a choice of three decors – Lifelong, Sedona, and Pinto. Hardwood cabinet door frames and faces are built to last. The face frames are tube drilled and screwed for extra strength, while its Euro-style spring loaded hardware keeps doors closed tightly and is fully adjustable to customize fit. On the floor, you’ll find seven-layer Beauflor vinyl floor that stands up to grime and heavy traffic and is easy to clean.


When you step into the Journeyer JT340FLR, you’re greeted by an open-concept living/dining/kitchen area. In the living area, you can take a seat on the sofa or two oversized chairs. For meal time, the family can gather around the dinette table and chairs. If you’re in the mood to be entertained, just turn to the entertainment center – it has a flat screen TV and a CD/DVD/MP3/AM/FM/iPod stereo.

The kitchen comes with all the appliances you’ll need to keep well-fed. This includes an eight-cubic-foot refrigerator, microwave, high-output range with an igniter, and 22” oven. The Corian countertops (complete with flush-mounted sink covers) are made with a nonporous surface, which means it is easy to clean. It features a durable finish and is easy to repair if it’s ever damaged. For all your kitchen storage needs, there are lots of cabinets and drawers, which come with full-extension stainless steel ball bearing drawer guides. As well, the kitchen has a stainless steel sink and single lever pullout with a spray faucet.


The master bedroom is your sanctuary at the end of the day. The 60” x 80” queen-size bed has easy lift strut assist and a full-depth base to store all of your essentials. As well, its radius base makes it easy to walk around. This room also comes with a wardrobe that features full extension stainless steel ball bearing drawer guides and washer/dryer prep.


Finally, we finish up our tour of the JT340FLR Journeyer with the bathroom. It comes with everything you’ll need – shower, large lavatory sink, and porcelain toilet with foot pedal flush. There’s also a linen closet to store all your towels and bath necessities.


Other interior features include a French door to the bedroom, Fantastic fan in the kitchen, LED lighting and crown molding.
