2018 American Eagle 45T Review
The 2018 American Coach American Eagle is designed to stand out from the flock, just like the iconic symbol it is named for.
Four American Eagle floorplans are available to pick from. The American Eagle 45T has a gross vehicle weight rating of 51,000 lbs and a gross combined weight rating of 66,000 lbs. It measures just under 45’ long, nearly 13’ high (with the air conditioning unit), and 102” wide. The fresh water tank has a capacity of 100 gallons, the gray water tanks can hold 60 gallons, and the black water tanks holds up to 40 gallons.

The American Eagle 45T is built on a Liberty Chassis by Freightliner Custom Chassis, from the same parent company as Mercedes-Benz. It’s built with steel I-beams made from one-piece, high-strength steel molds and uses huck bolt assembly, which has a reputation for strength and vibration resistance, as well as having a longer fatigue life than other fasteners. The Cummins ISX15 engine delivers a claimed 600HP.
Strut-assisted luggage doors with powered slides make moving storage bins in an out as simple as the touch of a button. Exterior sidewall swing-out TV and power awnings with LED lights and wind-sensors create an outdoor living space.
Stepping inside, the coach area has plenty of features to make your driving experience both comfortable and luxurious: iPad integration, digital LCD instrumental and gauge display with customization (total coach control system), teak veneer dash inlay, power memory driver seat, and color rear-camera display to name just a few.

The American Eagle 45T has two slides on the passenger/campsite side, and a 30” deep full-wall slideout on the driver side, making it incredibly spacious and home-like. Decorative hardwood ceiling accents, hardwood cabinetry, heated and hand laid polished porcelain tiles, and plenty of ambient accent lighting give the interior a luxurious look and feel.
Two ultraleather sofas – one of them a hideaway queen bed – face each other directly behind the coach area, with seatbelt seating for five.
In the galley/kitchen, you’ll find solid surface countertops, decorative glass tile backsplash, and apron-front stainless steel sink, chrome high-rise faucet with sprayer and a solid surface cover. The flush-mount electric two-burner cooktop also provides more prep space. A microwave oven, dishwasher with a wood-front door, and a French door refrigerator with in-door ice-maker provide you with everything you need to prepare and cook your family meals. A dining table and two chairs sit across from the sink, and between the sofas and the 48” LED TV.

In the bedroom, the king-size bed has adjustable sections for each person, as well as a head and foot massage component. The sculpted hardwood headboard is handcrafted. Across from the foot of the bed, the 32” television is mounted between two wardrobes and above a dresser with plenty of drawers. Overhead cabinetry and a full-length wardrobe at the rear offer even more storage space.
Stacked washer/dryer units are hidden and out of the way in the master bath. The bathroom itself feels modern and upscale with its residential, tiled walk-in shower with a full glass door, fold-down bench, rain showerhead, and teak flooring. In both the master bathroom and the half-bath, located just outside the bedroom in the main living space, clean-lined chrome fixtures, undermounted glass bowl sinks, and a porcelain toilet with two-button flush make the spaces feel more residential than motorhome.
