Sure, we’d all like to be able to afford the fancy-schmancy RV with all the bells and whistles that signal to all the RVers that you’re, well, fancy-schmancy. If it’s the hefty price tag that’s standing in the way, you may want to look at a more affordable option, like the 2010 Tiffin Motorhomes Allegro. This Class A motorhome offers impressive value, along with many of the things you’d expect to find in a more expensive coach.

With four floor plans to choose from, the Allergo ranges in size from 31′ 3″ to 35′ 10″. We’ll be focusing our attention on the 30 DA model, the smallest plan in the line up.

In regards to overall construction, the Allergo employs innovative construction techniques, making it resilient and stable. Built with a steel/aluminum reinforced structure gives it a durable and sturdy base. Its one-piece, moisture-resistant molded fiberglass roof cap offers great insulation and strength while preventing water intrusion. The gel-coated fiberglass sidewall’s external wall panel provides high-performance thermal insulation, and the vinyl tile floor is bonded to high-impact oriented strand board so it stands up to all kinds of foot traffic. The Allegro comes with some impressive warranties, including 10 years for structural integrity and 5 years for lamination.

Available on either a Ford or a Workhorse chassis, the Allergo is easy to drive and maneuver. If you go with the Ford, you get TorqShift 5-speed automatic overdrive with tow/haul mode (362 HP), while the Workhorse comes equipped with 1000 MH Series 6-speed automatic Allison Transmission with overdrive (340 HP). The 30 DA is the only Allergo model that doesn’t come with the option of going with a front-engine diesel powertrain, so if it’s this is a deal-breaker, you’ll have to upgrade to a larger floor plan.

To keep this Allergo comfortable throughout the year are two 13,500 BTU high profile roof A/C units and a 30,000 BTU ducted furnace. This model comes with a host of standard exterior features, including a double electric step, 1/4″ thick single pane windows, a power patio awning, ridged long-life storage boxes, a 5.5 kw Onan generator and heated water and holding tank compartments.

Taking your comfort into consideration, the cockpit gives the driver a pretty sweet ride. If you’re an RVer who likes their seat pampered, you’ll want to go with the optional Halo leather driver’s seat. The tinted one-piece windshield gives you an unobstructed view of the road and your surroundings. A single CD player and AM/FM stereo helps the drive go faster, while the passenger slide tray can also be used as a computer drawer. Other handy features you’ll find upfront include a power windshield solar/privacy shade, side-view cameras activated by turn signals, entry floor light, lighted instrument panel, 12 V dash receptacle, tilt steering wheel and dual dash fans.

Since you’re going to be spending so much time inside of it, it’s important to personalize your space and truly make it feel like home. With three decor schemes to choose from – Estate, Key Largo and Platinum – the Allergo features designer-chosen finishes so you can make it your own. Cabinets are covered with medium Alderwood solid doors and drawer fronts, as well as solid wood cabinet fascias. You’ll find wall-to-wall vinyl tile flooring in the living room, kitchen and bath, and Scotchgard treated carpet in all other areas. Other great interior features include solar/privacy RollEase shades, ball bearing drawer slides and soft touch vinyl ceiling.

Entertaining is made easy in the living area, where seating is plentiful thanks to a booth dinette with large pullout storage drawers, a cloth DE sofa bed and a swivel chair. If you really enjoy your TV experience, you can opt to put in a home theater surround sound system and DVD player. It also comes with an option of putting in a vacuum cleaner system.

The kitchen comes prepped with high-quality appliances, such as a 3-burner cooktop with gas oven, a microwave with exterior venting and an 8 cubic foot refrigerator. There’s plenty of storage in the cabinet and drawers found under the stove, and Formica countertops are handy for cooking prep. Other great extras the kitchen has to offer include a single lever satin nickel sink faucet, a double bowl kitchen sink, solid surface countertop edging and solid surface backsplashes.

Since privacy is a priority, the Allergo’s separate closed-off lavatory gives you the personal space you crave. Its fiberglass molded shower comes with a skylight, which will really wake you up first thing in the morning. Finished off with a medicine cabinet, Fantastic fan and a satin nickel vanity faucet, this bathroom has everything you need to get yourself cleaned up and ready for a day of play.

Onto the bedroom, that comes with a 60″ x 80″ innerspring queen mattress, spacious wardrobe with built-in drawers and automatic light, as well as dual nightstands and an optional 26” TV. It’s easy to see how this room might become your private sanctuary, as it comes outfitted with a bed comforter with throw pillows, solar/private RollEase shades and wall-to-wall carpeting.

The base price of the Allergo starts at $109,480. For more information on the entire line of Tiffin Motorhomes, visit http://www.tiffinmotorhomes.com/.
